Welcome To The East African Mission Orphanage

East African Mission Orphanage is the result of one families dream, who arrived in Kenya in 1997 with nothing more than two suitcases each. The Orphanage is a charitable institution registered with the Kenyan Government for the purpose of caring for the thousands of homeless orphans, that would end up either dying premature death through malnutrition, or walking the streets in search for food, which results in the desperate child sniffing glue to suppress hunger pains, or turning to prostitution as a means of survival.

EAM Orphanage  is taking up the challenge to reach these poor children before they reach the streets of Kenya. Kenya being a developing country is in need of outside support to deal with real issues like this.

EAM Orphanage promotes it's work in first world countries, endeavouring to turn their stronger currencies into food, clothing, education and special love, care and attention that these unfortunate ones deserve.

THE BENEFITS

As you could imagine, every child comes to the Orphanage malnourished, uneducated, in rags and suffering from all types of childhood diseases. East African Mission Orphanage immediately sets out to rectify these problems, bringing each child up in a picture of health. Then giving them proper education right to the completion of their studies and preparing them for local employment.

From Day One, the child receives proper nutrition and a new set of clothes. The benefits the child receives can be seen on the smiling faces of each child.

THE ORPHANAGE

Just as in the case of any charitable organisation, the needs are always great and are always there. With a statement released by TIME magazine in January 2000 that there are 10 million orphans in Africa, it is going to take us a long time before we can say we have finished our project.

East African Mission Orphanage now have 52 children in the orphanage and 160 children attending their school from the local community. They also now have their own water supply which has made things much better for them.

They have also raised garden beds with a full drip system. Ralph, Director of EAM quotes: "We have been spending far too much on vegetables each week, we are looking forward to completely growing our own. In fact we are already harvesting some veges for our orphanage kitchen, and the kids love them."
