In
2006 EAM Orphanage accepted its first baby,
Minnie. Minnie’s mother died when she was only 6
months old and her 15 year old sister was left to
care for her, which she was finding quite
difficult. As a result Minnie became extremely
malnourished and at risk of dying. A concerned
neighbour contacted the orphanage and when May saw
Minnie they took in both Minnie and her sister.
Minnie arrived at the orphanage at 13 months
extremely under weight. She is now 2 years old and
has just started walking. The orphanage ensures
that she gets the love, care, nutritional food and
exercise to help her develop.
The demand for care for babies has lead to the
Orphanage expanding by opening a Nursery. When the
Nursery started, the hospital had 9 babies waiting
for somewhere to live. The orphanage took as many
babies as they could at the time and now currently
cares for 10 babies between 3 months old and 2
years.
The babies arrive
at the orphanage in such a poor state. Immediately
the babies are given love, care, nutritional
food/formula and their medical/developmental needs
are then attended to.
Peregrini and Echo
Tours have donated funds to assist in the building
of a new nursery. This will allow the orphanage to
care for more babies. The Orphanage is still
looking for a donor to allow the completion of the
Nursery. If you are interested in helping, please
contact us.
